ประเทศไทยเดินหน้าขับเคลื่อนอุตสาหกรรมเทคโนโลยีขั้นสูง หลังบริษัท Lumentum ผู้นำด้านเทคโนโลยีโฟโตนิกส์ระดับโลก ลงนามบันทึกความเข้าใจ (MOU) ร่วมกับศูนย์เทคโนโลยีไมโครอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ (TMEC) และมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีมหานคร (MUT) เพื่อพัฒนาบุคลากร วิจัยและสร้างโครงสร้างพื้นฐานด้านโฟโตนิกส์และเซมิคอนดักเตอร์ในประเทศไทย โดยความร่วมมือครั้งนี้ได้รับการสนับสนุนจาก ศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ยศชนัน วงศ์สวัสดิ์ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัยและนวัตกรรม (อว.) ซึ่งสะท้อนถึงทิศทางนโยบายรัฐในการผลักดันประเทศสู่เศรษฐกิจฐานนวัตกรรมอย่างเป็นรูปธรรม
